What a shame that Morgan sports cars are being left behind... well, at least they are when they get to the slipway laugh2

Although it makes no mention of it in the advertisement just need to be aware that its not always just a simple drive into the water ie a Dutton Reef 2WD car does not legally require a marine or boat licence or specialized registration to operate on UK open waters. Your standard DVLA road registration, Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) pass, and UK driving licence are sufficient for general coastal and tidal water use.

However, you must consider regional and waterway-specific exceptions:

Inland Waterways:

If you take the vehicle on managed rivers, canals, or lakes (such as those managed by the Environment Agency or the Canal & River Trust), you will need an inland waterway license and registration.Boat Safety Scheme (BSS):

To register for inland waterways, the vehicle must hold a valid Boat Safety Scheme Certificate

.Local Slipways & Harbours:

Local harbour authorities may require a launch fee, local registration, or third-party marine liability insurance before allowing you to use their public slipways.

So less regulated if just used in coastal waters, could be good fun, I do wonder how well it performs in the water with only 15 hours useage on the clock.........

Many moons ago in the 1970s the sole family car was a VW beetle that was reputed to be airtight and floatable. Not that it was ever put to that test, but judging from the rather more leaky features of the Morgan even a deep puddle or a drop of rain is a challenge.

Living in Dartmouth I am surrounded by these crazy people that like to float about but even my level of car love is not going to get me in that one!

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

It may have been floatable but with a low slung flat four boxer it would have died instantly - a Landie it is not..

My late father called them "Clankboxes" but he was Polish and knew the Hitler Heritage, he was right they do make a dreadful noise unlike the Scoobies with a similar arrangement albeit watercooled, quieter and considerably quicker, World Class winners in fact.

I fancied the 4x4 Suzuki based version. But I'd rather have a "proper" boat boat

Well, it looks like the auction has been restarted because iirc the current auction was at £5,000 but is now showing as pre-bids and August 7th start.

It looks like it was previously auctioned in 2024 and shows as making £20,000, and sold; however, the photos appear to be the same on the current listing...
