She always seemed Authentic ... through all the homespun country-tales and rhinestones she just seemed herself ... and that served to endear her on some basic level with Rednecks and Glastonbury-goers alike.

Good songwriter too ... always preferred her own version over the vocal gymnastics of most of the more famous covers ... less is more, and it was a personal song for her rather than some generic 'love-song'
Her gifts of millions of books and huge donation to the Covid vaccine research team make her such a stand out kind person in this world of dull celebrities
Love a bit of country music and the odd dolly track. Liked her comment that it takes a lot of money to look this cheap…..
Couple more deaths that I care about . Rod Little, bright and funny bloke but like many didn’t agree with everything he expressed. He did challenge much political sloppy thinking and was a wordsmith. Wondered why his column in the Sunday Times was missing for a few weeks - illness I now understand - I shall miss the pointed humour .
And now Tim Curry. He looked ill recently. Takes me back to my youth when I went many times to see The Rocky Horror Show at the Odeon (?) on the Kings Road …..the satanic machanic, sweet transvestite now gone home ! Had fun watching the film over the years especially once lying on bean bags in a cinema in Monterey or was it Carmel, California, a long time back.
Another close rugby friend, news today no improvement, probably in his last weeks and I hope to get home in time to see him, Makes you value each day especially when you are in the fourth quarter. MM
Dolly is worthy of a Nobel Prize for global peace for all her quiet unrelenting work to improve the lives of the less fortunate on the back of her recording success.
Of note the Swift woman is taking a leaf out of Dolly's book and changing lives.

From a photo shoot for the album “Hungry Again." Dolly posing with a 1964 Cadillac Sedan de Ville in Joelton, Tennessee, in a 1997 photograph taken by Jim Herrington.

Loved her version of the House of the Rising Sun from the 9 to 5 album. It has a nice rock feel to it. She had such a huge variety of music
I have an interesting Dolly story. Years ago my wife worked with an American lady who moved here with her brother and father. Her brother was a carpenter, very good at his work but having trouble getting work mainly due to annoying the Aussie builders he would work with. We got him to build our Kitchen and our builder was getting annoyed with delays so dad came along to help, I got on very well with dad and we talked music seeing I played guitar in bands (still do). Anyway I found out that before he retired and moved to Australia he was a tailor and hired as Dolly's personal Bra maker. He would not say anything about what size she is apart from she needed custom made and she liked the bras he made.
So you could say my kitchen has been touched by the same hands that touched Dolly's Bra.
