So the Super-Batt-Charger did the trick and shocked the battery back on to the planet. So I'll have to postpone swopping the battery for awhile (shame..).. thinking of making it last at least until I sell the car.. Thanks for the help and suggestions.. Oliver.

I changed my battery two weeks ago. For (relatively) good access, I removed the panel behind my drivers seat and the "tools tray". With washing my (very, very) dirty fingers, a 50 minutes job...

I moved my battery from the front to the back on my +8. The rear battery position does make it a pig to get out.
My solution was to take it to the local Kwik Fit equivalent and say "Change the battery mate" Hi all, I did the same Brian, but I fitted an Optima battery which has a life time (announced) of 8 to 10 years. I hope it is true... BR. Daniel.

The earlier cars, like mine, pre-telescopics at the rear, do not have that hoop that is in the way of extracting your battery. All I have to do is clear the parcel shelf, remove it and I can then remove the battery, upwards, into the car. Simples!! Cheers,
