I had exactly the same thing a couple of years back. On closer inspection, I also found strands broken at the bulkhead end as well. Having seen the horrendous price of a new Morgan one, I resorted to Carbuilder Solutions and purchased their cable repair kit in a tin (CRKIT). That comes with two long inners of different diameters and a good selection of universal nipples, at a current cost of just £12. It’s worth keeping one in the car, as it is very compact.
