That's where I got mine from Robbie.
I had a brake hose fail during an MoT. It passed the visual inspection, but let go when they were doing the brake test. Brake fluid all over the test bay floor!
Made sense to replace all three at the same time. smile

Cheers,

shocked2

Better go and check my car still has all its wheels... laugh2

Only a single flexible hose at the rear Robbie (the one that burst on mine) from chassis to axle. On the axle the metal pipe goes into a 'T'-piece and out to each backplate...

Cheers,

Do you have a pressure valve (non return valve) in your brake line? It could be faulty. Otherwise it would IMHO be an issue with the master cylinder.

Folks,
I have tracked down the majority of noise to the left rear of the car. I went for a 15 Mile run without touching the brake pedal and when it rolled to a stop I moved off slowly -- no noise, Reversed and again, no noise. I then pressed the brake pedal and then moved off - immediate noise which stops in less than a second. Stopped, reversed - same again noise which goes within a second.

Does anyone recognise this -- could it be the wheel cylinder?? --I know I thought it was coming from all wheels, but with the help of a friend we have concluded it is really the left rear. I have had the drum off and my mechanic has also had the hub off and all seems well with brake shoes, hub etc on a visual check.

I'm getting desperate!!!!

Is the leading edge of the leading shoe chamfered? Or square on?
Possible wheel cylinder sticking when hot? How much wear is in the drum?

Graham -- I'm beginning to go towards the wheel cylinder -- can they be "serviced" or does one just open the cheque book(not a pleasant prospect to one of Scotish ancestry!!!)

Robbie,
A wheel cylinder shouldn't be that much. The last ones I bought (for the 90) were under £20. And I suspect there was more metal in them than the Morgan ones!
Sentiment is understood though! smile

Could it be that the return spring for the brake shoes touches the backplate? This gave a scratching noise on my wife's Mini when the brake pedal was pressed.

BTW: You Brits are really happy people. The price on the boxes of my spare brake cylinders reads 90 CHF (ca. 60£ each).
