Hello moggers, I’m about to join the happy club! The final spec is due shortly for our new baby and, knowing how you guys like to ponder on the finer details of all things Morgan, I’d like to take counsel on some remaining questions. I’ve read the forums and have answered most things, so all that remain are some little details. Our Plus4 will be Connaught, Stone leather & Green piping, Over riders and leather trim everywhere. My questions:

SWITZERLAND – firstly, we’re importing to this relaxed and car-friendly country. Anybody with any experience of doing this please ping me – I know this is going to be fun!
WHEELS – for comfort I think 6x15 is probably the best option. Any views on the 7x16? I’m also thinking of starting with standard silver painted wire then uprading later. (I’ll pay 12% tax on total cost on importation)
STEERING WHEEL – I think the walnut rim is thicker and easier to drive with? The riveted one is popular but is maybe too thin?
ROOF – this is an old forum topic, but I’m still confused by looks, ease of use etc. Also, I suspect the Mohair green is darker than pvc green?
LUGGAGE – we face execution for an obscured rear brake light. The Simmonds strap with LED looks ideal, anyone had experience touring with it?
SUNVISORS – spoil the lines. Wear a cap I think.
….And finally, which flying hat and goggles? ;-)

Hi Parisa, welcome to the forum. I took delivery of my plus 4 in September, and love it.
I went for stainless steel wheels and have been very pleased with them. Both for the look and ease of keeping them clean. I am happy with the 6x15's.
I also went for the easiup vinyl hood as I will only have it up in an emergency. I do however prefer the look of the mohair hood.
As far as steering wheels are concerned, I agree with you, and assuming we are talking about the Moto-lita steering wheels, that the walnut steering wheel has a better feel than the riveted wheel. I am off to Moto-lita tomorrow to make my final decision, as I like the leather feel for touring and would be happy with the walnut wheel for show. I will go for a 14". Ideally one of each!!
I did not go for visors. I just use good sunglasses (serengeti's).
The only option is wish I had chosen was a clock. At the time I was worried about battery drain, however with a CTEK charger installed that would not be a problem.

Which part of Switerland do you live. I have a lot of good memories of holidays in and around Interlaken.

Moto- lita rivited wheel is very thin ,Looks great but not very comfortable..some leather gloves make all the difference though..

Would love the new Spoked wheel with leather rim from Simmonds. roll on another birthday...!!!

Thx for replies guys. Good to see another Lotus owner here too - i thought it might be an odd combo.
we live near Zurich but spend a lot of time in Chamonix. That's a 3.5 hr drive via motorway. OR detour via Brig and then choose Furka, Grimsel, Gothard and the lesser used, but a fave of mine, Della Novena ;-)) What choices! It's going to be a great summer, with lot's of early starts to avoid the camper vans and coaches

Having just done 3,000 km to bring my new baby back home I can confirm that the riveted wheel is a little thin and next time (or in the future) I would have the thicker walnut rim wheel.

As for sun visors I have found them almost indispensable. When the sun gets low you can first flip them up and later down to keep the sun out of your eyes.

I seem to be in the minority......I love the thinness of my riveted wheel! When I bought the car I had an M Sport BMW as my main car with thick rim and to go from that to the thin rim was delicious.....still is. I find it gives a great feel to what the front wheels are doing. The only wheel I would consider as an alternative would be the one fitted to the current Plus4SS but Morgan will not sell me one!

On the matter of head gear and flying helmets.....I must have a funny shaped head. With the roof and side screens off, nothing stays on my head at speed (apart from my hair and at times I'm not too sure about that) unless tied down and I bought a leather flying helmet from Holdens. Works well but you do get funny looks sometime and I've heard the word Biggles mentioned a couple of times!
