Chaps,

Last week I traded my Morgan Roadster Series II for a new Plus 8 smile.

Waiting becomes now a great pain wink and my dealer in Switzerland expect the production in July timeframe.

I’m just wondering and probably one of you guys has more insights here – is it planned to offer a luggage rack like Morgan does it for the other models?

To be honest – I had only once the chance to see the Plus 8 in Geneva and can hardly remember the luggage space behind the seats; as far as I can remember there was less space then in my Roadster.

Thanks,

René

Congratulations to that decision!! When I first saw it on pictures i thought it looked far to wide, but after seing it at the factory live (both as a bare chassis and finished cars) I changed my mind, looks impressive! The new MOG magazine has a test of the new plus 8 in its fist issue and there they mention a optional luggage rack.

I have lots of photos of the chassis I can mail to you if interested (unfortunately not showing the luggage space behind seats)?

Hi Rene and congratulations.....a rather nice choice of car!

A couple of months ago on a trip to the factory I met the guy who makes the racks for Morgan and he was measuring up the Plus 8. He had a prototype rack with him which was very similar to the ones on the Sport models.

I too have ordered a new (aero) Plus 8 in exchange for my Roadster. I've ordered the factory luggage rack for it - very similar to the rack now available on new +4s. In addition I've asked the factory to make me a secure case that can be bolted to the rack, one similar in finish to the Morgan luggage, but internally aluminium for security.

I hope that as the new rack is much closer to the bodywork (no spare wheel) the luggage will sit close to the car and not obscure rear-vision.
Best,
Alan. (UK)

Alan, Rene......it should be very similar to the Sport one, mine sits about 50mm off the rear panel. I'm not sure with the Plus 8 how you are expected to store your side screens though.....on the Sport they slot down inside the car but there is very little storage space on the Plus8 so the factory may add storage to the underside of the rack which would raise it somewhat. The rack I saw being prototyped at the factory was the same as the Sport one with no widescreen storage and without the "U" shaped support bar.

Thanks Jays.
On the new Plus 8 there is a slot for the side screens inside - behind the seats, under the rear panel (no spare so there is room now).

Thank you! and looks great; is this a prototye or something Morgan will offer as an option?
