One thing's for sure Dean. If you go to Italy in the Max you'll be mobbed by admirers wherever you stop. A mate went on a driving holiday in Italy a few years ago in his TVR Cerbera & spent most of his time fending off Italians who were refusing to believe that such an awesome car wasn't Italian (in a a nice way....)

both me and the wife did the France and Italy road trip last year, put 4/4 on Train in Paris, overnight to Nice, drove through Monaco to Italian Riviera then to Tuscany for 1 week. return journey via Maranello to Ferrari factory, stayed in Lake Como for 4 days then the long drive home. if I were to go any where again it would deffinatley be Italy without exception. hoping to go further south in Italy next year after the wife has recovered smile

A spare weekend can see you in France, but Italy is in my sights for next year

Cross Roads Cemetary, Fontaine au Bois
Even the backroads in France are well surfaced and well suited to Morgan suspension

Good response, thank you, looked at the Train run down to Nice, that looks interesting, although a bit pricy

The AutoZug from Dusseldorf down to Alessandria in Italy is a good one. Very popular with both bikes and classic cars wanting to break the back of the journey. Did it last year on the bike.

We found ourselves at SaRascassa, Begur, Costa Brava. Fab. Five beds, great food, 40 meters from the sea, no high rise anywhere. A gem. Great multilingual host.

This used to be my technique but I travel with a laptop nowadays and book a day ahead. I'm aiming for Croatia this year via a liesurely drive through France and Italy.

Hi Bud

Would you recommend Hotel des Mimosas? Safe parking? I'm going to be looking for a final night's stay within striking distance of Roscoff at the end of our Spanish/French soujourn next month.

It is on the quay at Pont Aven, so no passing traffic and a decent enough car parking area.
Basic accomodation, but clean; fantastic sea-food; excellent wine. Very French.

If you look at the link below; the road comes in from the right and does not extend beyong the hotel. You can just see where cars are parked
