T16 Induction again
Raf, here is the layout in my 97 +4. The heater box looks different to yours. Still not a great run.

Mines a 93 so presumably it took Morgan three years to work out the orrigional installation was just plain silly. Are any two Morgans ever the same ? Obviously building Morgans is a subjective sort of thing. It depends on how your feeling that day....

I had a +4 on an L plate from new. The performance of the car was transformed by a Librands exhaust, replacing the catalyst with a straight through pipe and by work conducted by Colin Musgrove Racing. CMR rerouted the air intake to remove the obstructive kink shown in raf 1's picture, fitted a K&N filter and replaced the convoluted exhaust manifold with a later variant from Morgan. I will never forget the demo run that Colin gave after the work - it was fast.
Sadly no Morgan at present but a Triking is on its way.
Cheers
Mark

I have the Librands manifold & exhaust but still a cat. I agree that does transform it.

Librands manifold and exhaust , a bit of head polishing together with a lightened flywheel and re mapping does seem to be a worthwhile tweak for these engines. Not forgetting uprated head studs to mitigate against head gasket problems. Its not so much the added BHP but how it makes the thing feel. The previous owner described it as 'rapid' and I cant disagree... Don't know whether mine has been de - catted or not . I have an old invoice for a cat delete pipe but their is a can in front of the silencer that looks like a cat. But it also has some suspicious looking welding which suggests it may have been eviscerated. Which is just as well since current revised U .K . Mot regs say the cat must be present but doesn't say that it has to have anything in it ! Whether or not you can chuck the cat presumably depends on the age of the car since you only have to meet the emissions standards as stated by the manufacturer at the time it was made. I hope thats right but if it isn't Im sure someone will correct me.

Drawing this thread to a temporary close. In the real world apparently a forward facing induction pipe for a t 16 engine doesn't exist. According to mogsport you cut the manifold and weld the back bit on the front ( upside down ) Will report again if I can get it to work. Thanks for all the helpful advice.
