Are the goggles intended to placate the RSPCA too? You wouldn't want to be accused of recklessly endangering your dog's eyesight.

I did laugh at the "dog on luggage rack" mental image! We also have a (smaller than average) black lab who would love to ride in the "back", so perhaps the suitcase is the answer, leaving room for dog on occasions, or more often some small bags behind the seat. Or cameras and tripod.

As a babe magnet your dog is cute, but nowhere near as cute as my friend Mike's gold cocker spaniel. As a pair of 50-something guys walking the Cornish coastal path with two canine companions, we attracted far more female attention than we would otherwise merit (or indeed admit).

But now we're definitely off topic.

So my next question:
Has anyone fitted a cycle carrier to a Morgan?

Nigel, don't worry about going a little off-topic; generally our discussions are meandering jaunts that end up somewhere slightly different than intended. However, as long as everyone finds an answer to their question, I try not to curtail the 'pub-esque' conversation style!

It's worth looking on this thread as a start - it touched upon bike racks!

That thread considers towbar mounting - which is a bit more engineering than is really necessary to carry a bike. I'm thinking more about the sort of rack you would put on the back/boot of a saloon car, or perhaps one to fit in place of a luggage rack, but with similar fittings. Perhaps a custom rack would be needed - if you had quick release brackets, they could be used for both types of rack interchangeably. For one road bike it need only carry 10-12kg, and as the rear lights and plate are mounted low, it wouldn't need to be high.

'Wilfred' isn't my dog, but owned by an Austrian member who took the original photo. Mine is the 'little' Hoodie below; being a 'DobDach' her head is the wrong profile for googles!

Collected my car today and drove from Exminster to Taunton with the roof down and the heater on. Brilliant!

It is like new, has full leather and a Librand's gear shift fitted, plus a tonneaus which I hadn't expected.

Why not all the way? Cos I'm staying with friends at Taunton for the weekend (in fact two Dads taking our youngest daughters to London for Sat/Sun). Then planning to drive home in 2 stages (1) Severn bridge - Chepstow - Monomouth - Hereford - Malvern (factory?) - Birmingham (stay with friends) then (2) back to North Yorks possibly via Lincoln and Humber bridge - all routing dependent on weather.

So far I am impressed with the driveability - 70 on the M5 no problem, top off, sidescreens in place, and the heater was superb.

The car itself is literally in as new showroom condition. Having done only 2500 miles in 2.5 years I suspect it still needs a bit of running in, and I have bought some injector cleaner to give it a good clear out. Berrybrook serviced it and at my request did an MOT despite being 6 months early.

Tonight it's in my friends' garage, in case of rain, with the hood up to keep the cats out!

My elder daughter (18) travelled with me today, and had to admit is a cool car, despite all the ribbing she has given me about "midlife crisis".
