Congratulations! Fun, isn't it? And it just seems to keep getting better. Found myself doing all sorts of odd journeys today, and finding excuses to go the 'pretty way' round.

My local Blockbuster shop is only a mile away, but I choose to goto another Blockbuster shop which is about 7 miles away and it takes me at least twice that distance to get there

Drove from Taunton to Solihull this afternoon - 130 miles, exactly 1/4 the number of miles done by the previous owner in the last 12 months!

12-yr old daughter in the passenger seat, loved it, top down despite the grey cold weather, didn't get cold, didn't even wear a hat. A thumbs-up from her!

Put some injector cleaner in, and filled up the tank, now purring along nicely after more of a blast than i think this poor car's ever had. 70 mph on M5/M42 most of the way. However one little problem - the "battery" warning light came on, implying a charging problem. Voltage was OK, so stopped to have a look - alternator belt still there (!) - pressed on to our destination so that I wouldn't have to drive in the dark with lights on and drain the battery. Warning light went out on arrival - why? Any ideas? I have to drive another 180 miles tomorrow back home and would prefer not to have to call the AA!

Nigel, loose wire?

Strange fault!

I assume you've tried to restart the car and it starts with no problem? If so, perhaps there is a loose wire to the warning light?

Go to a local garage and ask them to perform a drop test, they'll be able to tell you whether the battery is being charged...

Hi- yes, it restarted OK, and the light hasn't come on again. I guess a loose lead to the light or a faulty earth somewhere. I think I'll head home (170 miles depending on route) if all starts OK tomorrow and get my local garage to look at it if it recurs.

The Zetec motor is uncannily quiet when idling with the bonnet open, I'm quite impressed.

I'm also impressed that many (OK not all) road users treat you with a bit more respect than if you're driving an "average" car!
