About the only thing in its favour is that it is DIN compatible and therefore easily replaced by any number of better units. OK. That is good because I thinking of replace the Alpine with another unit. What kind of tools is needed to remove the Alpine unit? //Bosse

I answer myself: Instructions for removing the radio is in the User Manual I just have to get 2 small pieces to insert on both sides of the radio. //Bosse

I use a Sony mex BT3800 has sockets for a wired remote which I have mounted on the end of the transmission tunnel and also has an infra red remote too. It has a socket for an external Mic so the phone works very well through it as a hands free and it has a connection for an iphone / MP3 player via usb. Cost, I think, about €130
Cheers from a wet Le Mans!!!
