When I did the 4 seater resto I took it right back to the chassis ..... even with relatively mild tin-worm, by the time proper welded repairs were done (one of the few jobs I farmed out to qualified experts) and it had been blasted and coated the cost was right up there with a new chassis (which weren't as expensive as I expected) ... the decider for me was philosophical rather than logical, as I had decided at the start I wanted to preserve as much of the car's original metal as possible ... probably not the most sensible approach as I spent months of extra effort in repairing things that would have been easily replaced ... however, it was lockdown so it was more productive than jigsaw-puzzles and rum!! 🙂
