You are very prudent to fill at a level significantly before the fuel level indicates it is necessary. Internal pumps are very cheap, but also very vulnerable to fuel levels. The Factory, to my knowledge, never used in-tank fuel collectors so curves and steep inclines can perhaps excite a sad result. I have never seen the insides of Aero fuel tanks. A mystery.

After almost two decades, I designed a new crash proof tank for myself, removing my racing fuel cell I had fit to the car. And I switched to an external pump..which can be changed roadside in minutes without petrol messiness. Funny thing, after buying a chorus line of super expensive new external fuel pumps, all of which failed me on test drives , I found an inexpensive external version of the same internal pump I had been using. It works perfectly! However, I STILL have the habit of filling before the gauge tells meI must. 😉And, in my case, I have even adjusted the fuel level indicator to show empty 10 liters before it was! HABITS!!

My new tank's full highway range is a theoretic 350 miles (560 kms) which is impressive for a silly car with far too much bhp and with which fuel consumption was NEVER prioritized. Usage costs is not (for me) a common sense factor for a hobby.

I would guess your tank capacity at 55 litres from my own experience with the model and its Aero variant. I was provided with one of the first of them made by a UK friend in 2004. We spent 10 days crossing England back and forth with it in 2004. I have driven all the others, including spending much time with the first Aeromax. BTW, of the entire Aero model group (including the Aero Plus 8s), yours is my favorite, despite its teething problems and adorable quixotic looks. Like you, I like the rough and tumble of sports cars far more. As Chris Lawrence intended, yours is a true sports car and not a touring car as the others are. But this is matter of changing tastes both in the market at with the MMC Management after Chris left. My wife and I feel it is the only one of that model line that provides our 0car's reactivity, and the suspension, though not quite as comfy, is very pleasantly sporty. We were much less impressed with the Aeromax aside from its very Bugatti Atlantique looks, but the prototype went through a LOT. I am a sucker for the Atlantique and its many copies. I feel when the dust settles, the Series 1 will be fully appreciated, if it is not already.

BTW2, before I restricted gomog to trads-only-to-2004 almost 20 years ago and brought the rest down, I covered Aeros. If you need anything, I might have it. Feel free to contact me off-group when/if in need.

P.S. On convenient occasions, check the strap (S) holding the tank in place. If you don't have them on your car, add them. Cheap insurance according to the crash tests.
