Just returned from our village service. People spilling out onto the road around the memorial. A small but meaningful service made more so by a local piper - not the most accomplished but very moving. Really heartwarming to see little children laying their poppies and crosses at the foot of the monument. A scene repeated across the country no doubt - we must continue to recognise those who served and still do - our freedoms are because of them and not to be taken lightly.
