It seems the best scenario is to allow fossil fuels/hydrogen for heating homes and hydrogen for transport and develop carbon capture to mitigate the emissions whilst aiming for net zero. Turn excess wind farm energy in hydrogen production (stored energy).

As it appears that cleaning up our skies is actually accelerating climate change ,as there is less sun reflected from now increasingly warming seas as a direct result of cleaning up shipping emissions. Smog actually helps us.

At some point surely the penny will drop, as the US the major emitter is going to accelerate its fossil fuel use, UK net zero s meaningless and an economic load being forced on its people, which will not stop global warming or rising seas.

In Italy there are a couple of people who are converting classic Ape 3 wheelers for city use. Many cities no longer allow 2 stroke engines and these are very useful for deliveries in narrow city lanes.
The autonomy is only 50 to 80km (in line with the 30 miles mentioned above)

Last week, the engineer who serviced my boiler had just come from installing a new gas boiler to replace a heat pump. Environmental Health tested the heat pump with a decibel meter after complaints from the neighbours and found the levels illegally high. The owner had no choice but to have it removed.
