Just had a couple of days up North Wales. It rained all the way up with the usual kitchen roll wedged in the leaking orifices around the roof seals. On the plus side the de mister worked very well with a staggering 45.7mpg showing on the screen. The sill leather had to be mopped at every stop and we seem to have lost the finger thinghy for the sidescreen window we now have a round vent hole. Another rather miserable drive home in the rain we upgraded the kitchen towels to microfibre cloths. To cap it all off I yet again managed to curb the off side alloy whilst trying to dodge a reversing LHD Dutch Motothome he never saw us. A Morgan as a daily I must be honest I was glad to park it back in the garage this evening. 43.8 mpg on the return journey the BMW bits are spot on. Em

Well I needed 2 pcbs on my S1 Roadster but avoided the second by wiring the lights full on. Whether we like it or not this is now the world of our cars. I'm going to age disgracefully and just enjoy the CX by wringing the nuts off it. You only live once.

my two-peneth ...Just back from a 3600 (Morgan miles) tour of Europe. NW UK to black forrest, dolomites, alps, french riviera, pyrenees & back via Santander. countless hairpin bends, up & down mountains, pouring rain to scorching sunshine. 38C in Monaco / Cannes & stop start traffic. my car is a march 22 model plus four & i've had all the faults & more. these were all sorted early on as I use the car & have piled the miles on. faults on this trip ... a sun visor screw came loose. yep I have the Allen key in the glove box. and that's it. you'd think the fan would be going off in the 38C heat & stop start traffic, no, all good. levels checked every two days & all stable. still get the water on the inner sills but the factory reckon they can tighten the doors up. I kind of use the car as a daily (not for work), so boys & girls get those cars out & sort the niggles. unfortunately due to the miles on mine its worth about 50p, but if im not changing it who cares. love the car, so to anyone thinking of getting one maybe a high miler may be the best choice.

I agree Julian playing with the big boys implies a raised game and is high risk if they screw up the USA but change was ever thus.
We need to support them. If you were a new buyer and read this constant moan from non cx owners mainly you would be put off a fundamentally good sports car

And WHERE will the other 97% go ? How long will a typical "service journey" take; watch/wait while the work is done, or a B&B overnight, a courtesy car, or a train journey twice ? Tim is on the money for me, you either love Morgan long term or you don't (only 20 years ownership for me so a new boy) - it's that simple and as in all things in life if you want it bad enough you manage it and it works for you. The CX series are incredible cars and rejoice in it whilst we are still fortunate enough to have them around at ridiculously low prices on the pre owned market. John is the proof that this is a very good move for those really using their cars for long distance touring, 9k I think he put down this first year of ownership with a puncture to show only If you need to rely on a garage turn the trip into an adventure, not an endurance test p.s. I had a searing reminder of just how quick and exceptionally well handling the S2 Aero is at 20 years old yesterday morning when I met up with a new Dartmouth resident who took me for a brief run out in his for milk - blindingly quick and vey settled we came back with butter.. p.p.s. When my left knee finally goes the CX Auto is the route for me

The Trads don't pretend to be what they are not. The CXs do, and are a nicely wrapped up collection of Trad issues in a much more expensive and complicated package. The CX Plus Four is a modern replica of a trad Plus 4. Without leaks it wouldn't capture the vintage feeling 😂 Harald

My P6 is a second car, and regularly gets a run out, but probably no more than 5,000 miles per year in total. I had one early issue affecting reliability which MMC thought was earthing, I think it was a latent fuel issue due to the car having less than 1,000 miles on the clock after 18 months. Still minor niggles to be sorted, but nothing that would cause me to worry about taking it on a long trip. She performed well on the run down to and from Beaulieu.
I don't know whether the market value is now more or less than I paid for her, but I don't really care. I'm just going to enjoy the driving for as long as I can.

I assume that a CX will cause considerably higher maintenance costs in old age than a Trad. It is a complex car from a small series manufacturer. I'm sure you are right for people who don't do their own maintenance, I don't believe it would be necessarily true if one were to do one's own maintenance. The B48 engine is a well-known unit and can be maintained with the help of aftermarket software like BimmerCode. Although the rest of the car is also more complex than a trad and this would result in high labour costs if having work done at a dealer, if doing stuff at home it would really just mean maintenance tasks would take longer. I'd happily take one on, but then I have a good range of tools, a big garage, and a lift. I wouldn't be so keen if I didn't have those.

Regarding routine servicing a Ferrari it ain't. i realize at some point you have to plug in the diagnostics but access for the most part is quite easy and no different to your normal tin top. Their much easier to work on than my old 24 year old Aero was. Any compitant mechanic can do a routine service the problem starts when you get an electrical gremlin. And lets not forget that b58 engine is probably the best engine BMW have ever made in a production road car.

Anybody with form dealing with Lucas bullet connections, has a head start on electrics.
And finding some unsoldered with just the cable wrapped over the end is a real eye roller.

Yup, that's why you always have the Morgan grin John A lot of the crap on here slamming the CX is from non owners and it's beginning to get up my harris just a wee bit The CX owner in Malvern that dailied his was fair comment but I think we all know that it was never intended for that level of usage imho.. p.s. As said earlier when the left knee finally goes it's the CX Auto for me, no question. Ditto, and I'll be spannering and adding tweaks myself too, there's bound to be Beemer ECU specialists able to unlock it
