Talk Morgan Forums Thread Like Summary - Brake lights on all the time ignition is switched

Hi on my 1992 4/4 the brake lights come on as soon as the ignition key is turned to the on position and remain on all the time. Whether or not the engine is running.
Depressing the brake pedal makes no difference to the light.
I suspect a defective brake light switch.
The switch is a Hydraulic type,
If a wire is removed from the switch the lights go out.
All the posts I have read online refer to brake light switches being faulty because the lights will not come on at all.
Am I correct that my switch needs replacing or should I be looking for a different fault and if that is the case what should I try instead?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a failed switch to me. If you are quick you can swap them over without having to bleed the fluid.
First I'd buy a new switch ( a word of warning most come out of Asia now and are poor quality) . Connect the switch without plumbing it in. If the light is off then the old switch is broken.
