Last June several of us met up on the northern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Shenandoah National Park.

I would like to propose a gathering further down the parkway with a base at the Hotel Floyd in Floyd VA.

We live just 20 miles north of Floyd off Hwy 8 and have plenty of parking for those who trailer.

Thursday June 4, late afternoon BBQ with smoked ribs at the Mattson's house.

I wish I was closer... Sounds like fun.

If my Morgan is back together from my winter tinkering by then count me in.

there probably are campgrounds, but I have not really looked about. There used to be a really cool set of CCC cabins just about 5 miles from Mabry mill, but they are no longer open. Probably could not find a Vender.

I am considering this trip, after all, I did make it to Augusta, Georgia in the M3W a couple of years ago. How far down the Parkway do you anticipate traveling? I had started up the Parkway from Ashville several years back on a motorcycle, but my "fear of heights" kicked in, and so did not get very far. I'm thinking the northern end is a little more tame. And I did ride Colorado's Ouray to Silverton highway several years back, it's just a mind set I need to conquer. Mountain roads are one of the joys of an M3W. (but perhaps not the Swiss Apps for me, I am in awe of the 'Treffen folks!)

A couple of parkway rides come to mind. Head SW to almost NC and then to Galax and back to Floyd on some secondary roads. The other would be to head NE up past Roanoke. There are a couple of wineries on the SW route as well as Mabry mill and the Blue Ridge Music center.
You definitely would not like I77 heading south and down from Fancy Gap.

Just figured out that it is the weekend of my daughter’s high school graduation so I cannot make it. A week later I am in. I want to see that area of Virginia so it is a shame.

we could change it to the second weekend. It turns out that June 13 is the graduation for my residents. But as this is very close to home, it would just mean missing Saturday evening for me.
