Morgan Car Club of Western Australia ... again
Hi there,
My badge was delivered in person today (thanks chaps) and is already fitted, using OZ 4/4's badge bar clip he kindly gave to me.

Hi Brian, Thanks. The black swan is on the western Australian state flag and in the last couple of years I've been in Perth I don't recall seeing a white swan anywhere only black ones. More here . Thanks Richard, it just shows my ignorance of Oceania in general, and Australia in particular. We nearly emigrated there many years ago, but chose to be an expat in Africa instead. It didn't seem as permanent a move!  Must make a visit, particularly as by the end of this year it will be the only one of the seven continents we haven't been too. Brian I came here to avoid West Africa....but only for 3 months some two and a half years ago. Never intended to stay but WA is one of the worlds best kept secrets. Australia in general is unique in so any ways. Well worth a visit.

I came here to avoid West Africa....but only for 3 months some two and a half years ago. Never intended to stay but WA is one of the worlds best kept secrets. Australia in general is unique in so any ways. Well worth a visit. We've got friends in Perth so it's on our list of places to visit in the future.  Pity you missed West Africa, the most interesting part of the continent imho, but then I'm biased!

I briefly did Pointe Norie and Malabo. Love South Africa but guess that doesn't count!
Should you find yourself in Perth let me know and I'll arrange wine tasting in the hills in various Morgans!

Thanks Richard, that's a great offer and I hope to take you up on it as I'm an enthusiastic consumer of wine!  Wine-tasting and Mogs, what a great combination. I guess from Malabo, Pointe-Noire and then Perth you're in the Oil, Gas and/or Mining business. Whilst I've never been to the two places you mention in West Africa, just let me say their reputation precedes them.  A bit like Graham's visits to places like Takoradi and Apapa/Tin Can Island (Club 21 Graham?  ) not exactly the best face of the continent! I agree South Africa is a very beautiful country, but it also has its own unique issues. Ghana is now a popular spot for kids for their gap years, as its safe and culturally quite different to Europe, which just goes to show how the area has changed over the years.

Another total thread drift, but let me see now: Nouhadibou, Mauretania, 1979, load iron ore for S. Wales Various E. AFrica & S. Africa ports in '78, 79, 80, '81 Between '84 & '91: working E - W, in no date order - Monrovia, Liberia; Abidjan, Ivory Coast; Tema, Ghana; Lome, Togo; Escravos, Nigeria (a single point mooring 30 miles offshore); somewhere in Congo, but can't remember how far up river we went. Many of these more than once. Lots of other places scattered around the world...  One day I'll get around to posting voyage details against the various ships here: http://www.qsl.net/g4fuj/ships&shacks.html Brought back a few memories that - I think I'll replace the MINI with one of those little Suzuki 4x4 - used to have an LJ80 in Mombasa... That has stirred the memories For me: Working in the 1980s; West (ish) to East (ish) Egypt Pakistan (as far north as Rawalpindi) Sri Lanka Burma Thailand Singapore Papua New Guinea Australia (mainly NSW) Hong Kong Japan Taiwan New Caledonia French Polynesia Sure I've missed a few! Whilst I saw photos of some pre-Smolensky TVR's, ne'er-a-sign of a photo of a Morgan, not even a mention of same that I could find.  With apologies Richard for the continuing thread drift...

Yup, I know.
I only keep it running for the ships now - caught up with a few old shipmates through that... I should remove the rest as too much has changed since the last updates. It was started some years earlier.
