It's funny, I felt a bit of a bang, thought to myself, "that didn't sound very good", then I saw the wheel and thought "some poor bu*#er has lost a wheel" then the realisation...... The photographer got a series of shots , me getting out of the car and running away...not a good place to be with all those wild and crazy Lotus, Datsun and Camaro, etc. drivers out there!
Cheers, Dave.
sorry about the photo coming up again...not quite sure what I did, just added a comment to my own picture.

That's one way of lowering the car...... and shedding weight! Looks like a new tyre too, still with label on the tread! Classic photo though. Good to see you were safe.

So much for the other thread on wheels nut and torque levels, where it suggests they are self tightening!
Looking the photo the nut is with the wheel. What actually broke Dave?

The axle shaft snapped. Of all the Morgans that were raced around here, that's the only axle that broke. We had a couple of front stub axles break...very sticky race tyres and bumpy track, and a few off-course excursions into the scenery...lol
Cheers, Dave.
(I've found a few more racing photos, but I don't want to bore you all by posting too many)

Grteat photo, thanks for sharing. I do not think the white racing suit would have been so clean afterwards
