Museum Mystery Morgan Model
On the way back from Birmingham yesterday, Mrs. W and I paid a visit to the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon. Amongst a random display of apparently unconnected artefacts I spotted this. It appears to be a model of a convertible Plus Four Plus, was such a car ever envisaged? Does anyone know anything about the model, there were no captions in the display. (Apologies for the poor quality pictures, as I said it was an unscheduled visit so I only had my phone to take photos with).

There is something a little 'Dart-ish' about the profile.
I'll ask the factory this week and see if we can get some more info. It does look like the same era as the +4+ when MMC were toying with the idea of fibreglass bodywork.

This car was a proposed companion to the Plus 4 Plus, but Peter Morgan refused it and it stayed with this scale model prototype.

Possibly but very few fibreglass bodied cars did well. The exception, perhaps, is Lotus.

Since the MGA was discontinued in 1962 and the +4+ was introduced in 1963, they would not have competed in the new-car market.
However, the Morgan model does look very much like an MGA with a spare tire instead of a trunk (boot). I suspect that this was an early design for a "modern-style" Morgan, that lost out to the design that was used in the +4+. Note that the model uses white gauges, which were replaced with black gauges in early 1962.
