I remember this from last years Classic & Sports Car calendar  It's a stunning shot of the Tiger and Bugatti.

Lovely photo very evocative,drama and beauty in low energy livery. I am sure its a Stampe  as opposed to a Tiger, note the ailerons in the upper wing also the lack of spar in the center section between the front an rear struts and the tailwheel which would on a standard Tiger have been a skid.

Yes well spotted unless it's a super tiger where the fuel tank was sited in the front cockpit you would be able to see it clearly on the top wing. The tailwheel is another as you say. Lovely photo very evocative,drama and beauty in low energy livery. I can't remember if the Super Tigers had ailerons on both upper and lower wings but I believe all Tigers had "N" style centre section struts so the evidence points to a Stampe SV4. But to be really sure a clear view of the tail is needed. From what I see it looks more Stampe than Tiger.

No pretty sure the super tigers had standard ailerons on lower surfaces only and apart from inverted flying fuel systems, metal props and weight saving that was it I think. From childhood I remember the Bishop, Deacon and the Archdeacon as supertigers, it was a long time ago now.
My late Father unfortunately witnessed one of his great friends fly the Bishop (1st supertiger named after Nathan Bishop I think of the Tiger Club) inverted about 20' above the runway suffered a "redout" and flew it straight into the deck. Not much of the Yellow and Red Tiger left or Elwyn MaCaully (Mac). They were both CFI's at the time.
A year or so earlier Mac had flown the channel inverted in the Bishop for an anniversary of Bleriots crossing.
The photograph comes from a series featured in Classic & Sportscar magazine July 1984 and was included in the magazines 2012 calendar.

They were based at the Tiger Club, then at Redhill, now over in Kent. Back in the 1960s I was a young lad in the ATC, one of the Civilian Instructors was Denis Hartas, now sadly dead. Denis was a BEA pilot ant active member of the Tiger Club. He was the person who first flew a Tiger Moth across the channel with a lady standing on the wing... He took me flying in G-ACDC, the oldest Tiger Moth still flying and we did aerobatics over Redhill. Wonderful days...
