Swept away by an Avalanche...

Crunchie and myself visited the Ultima factory a couple of weeks ago with a view to possibly placing an order for a factory-built car, but the quote for this was £110K. A bit rich for us for a track-day special and so we decided to buy one on the second hand market. oops

Well last week we did the deal and bought this Ultima Avalanche, it is a top-specced car with a slightly detuned Chevrolet LS7 engine, giving 640 bhp which in a car weighting 930 kg makes for interesting performance. It's certainly too fast for my wheel-twirling ability, but we both look forward to our first track day event. drive

The car is just two-years old and has done two trips to Le Mans, but total mileage is less than 2,500 miles. We pick it up this week, just shopping for insurance quotes...

I had not noticed one of the pics was a Shell garage, yes it was made this colour to make it easy to paint and ASBO this is civilised with a heater and aircon and you can hear the passenger (when they are screaming) scared

Having share our Westfield with Brian for the last 3 or 4 years I have just about learnt to drive it drive it has over 500 bhp per tonne and will be on sale shortly if anyone knows someone who wants a street legal trackday weapon evil

Cannot wait to collect the car this week.

I am at Castle Coombe this Saturday; not sure I will be even on the track let alone giving it the beans. oops

Thank you Brian, I have looked at the Ultima for several years, and being a kit car, one really does have to be careful with the history and spec. but it looks as if you have found a really good one, well done, I know we will be more than interested to hear your thoughts and views once you start using it in anger. I will continue to look, justifying the purchase, to myself and more importantly to my wife, however, may be a little more difficult.

Superb choice of car Brian and Crunchie flag you just know that you'll have to take it to Le Mans Classic next year just to get it on the track and down the Mulsanne!

I take it that you have to plan your routes very carefully to avoid speed humps!

Wow. Excellent choice. A deeply underrated company and car. Often looked at the on piston heads. Calling these kit cars does them a disservice in many ways.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

OK Jays, unless you have the front splitter fitted. We're told this makes an enormous difference at speed, but is really for those who race them imho - something I don't plan to do, but can't speak for Crunchie!
