Found this amazing picture while looking at how cars used to be transported. It took me a while to realise what they were actually doing! Using a Pettibone Cary-Lift Loader - they still make those things and the design has hardly changed. Better built than the cars it is loading!

I am curious about Fluid, Oil and Acid Leak whilst stud in that position !!!! From the link here: All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir.
