Yesyes , today ZORRA was dropped in the water after 20 years "bricolage" ..
Everything water thigt , so was the care in the building... i'm proud ! Now mast/rigging and he will become a sailboat !!!!!

long stressy day.. now the more happy. Estimated working hours is 10.000 .... up to the last detail , everything is custom made. Crazy

all went perfect , except for the cold rain showers.. O well, it' s Belgium.. for another month

Well done.
A huge project done to a very high standard.
It looks a very good sea boat and very manoeuvrable with the bow and stern thrusters.
Many of the fishing boats built locally have similar underwater shape with bulbs on the bow.

Looks fabulous. I lived on a somewhat smaller steel boat for a year. This looks a lot more habitable

thanks again fellows for the "flowers". I got so far compliments all over the harbor... and yes ,indeed, he/she ? looks a bit a small "Yacht".. just "that" more then a "common" sailing boat. Ok, custom made was for me the opportunity to give it a "look" as overdue bolders,winches,railing,equipment,mast etc.. every detail is in fact copyed form bigger yachts , just rescaled to a 50 feeter. Also lenght versus beam is as old sea worthy vessels, not the modern designs, where interiors are sold with a casco around....to show/live in harbors... ( Zorra is 15 m x 3.8 m ,not 4.8 m... )
Due weight( 30 tons ) and beam he's also IN the water, not floating above... again , as the sea worthy vessels once.... also the 3/4 keel must make it a course steady one, perhaps difficult to change, but not so agile as short deep fin keels who Always search direction at the minest rudder ... Keel is 4 m at the bottom to become 5 m at the boat's bottom. Height 1m , at the bottom surface 1 m2 . A Naca profile. 9 tons lead at the bottom, which is about 0.4 m height of the keel... rest 0.6 m is fuel tank and a in-welded box with the 700 kgs batteries. Again to help stability .As the bulb bow,who made it possible to house the 500 kg anchors chains below water level instead of above.

Had a fine day at the harbor today under a warm sun ! filled the central heating and test run... amazing how warm water feels the first time in a boats's kitchen

today we made the "maiden' trip ! sailing was perfect , even against our (wrong) thoughts about the 30 ton weight . In a 4 wind we got 6/7 nots. He turned ,on only mainsail, without a engine push ! And stability is OK, full speed on engines, turn max and almost no angle !

Ok, we carry , mainsail 65 m2 and Genua 75 m2 .

at the end , i must be honest , scarry to see my boat that inclineded , after 20 years work , level on concrete
