Shelsley Walsh Classic

Just a week before Thrill on the Hill, a couple of rather special cars warming up the track for us.
The most impressive classic was the 1930s Auto Union Type C driven by Hans Joachim Stuck following in his fathers footsteps 80 years on. The sound of the 16 cylinder engine was incredible! The other was a 1934 Maserati 8CM which again sounded glorious.
The most impressive modern car was a home built special....a 1.7 litre engine turbo charged......by a helicopter gas turbine so absolutely no turbo lag! It broke the class record and very close to the course record too on its second practice run.

Jays,

thanks so much for those: simply wonderful.

I had a very tatty photo of the Auto Union taken at the 1937 GP at Donington Park, driven by Roseymer..
Dad went there as a young lad.

Lovely images John. Shame we didn't bump into you...not that you'd have easily recognised me under my Harris Tweed flat cap charity shop special
