Should I ?

Buy this bike?

I rode it today.
It is everything I wanted my 2004 Thruxton to be but it never was...
Looks like a Thruxton should, especially the tank. I love the fake Amal carbs.
Not so obvious are the alloy wheel rims and alloy swing arm.

The bike has modern electronics, including the traction control, ABS and three traction/stability modes, rain, street and track.

Then the modern components...

USD Showa ?
Ohlins piggy-back rear shocks?
Brembo front discs and pads?

All a bit too modern? I don't think so....and they transform the bike. The ride is supple, it corners and turns in more like a sports bike...

Anyway after 5 years away from bikes it was an absolute delight to be back on 2 wheels. I've not had so much fun for a while. I love Tarka, but it is still a car....

I stopped riding in 2013 because of neck/back problems: these seem to be resolved. So, I'm very, very tempted to return to biking.

Advice please!

Go on. You know you want to.

Also the new Triumphs get good write-ups.

Peter - please stop doh

I am still mourning the departure of my last bike and am dodging the (numerous) requests to sell/gift helmets, leathers, etc.

These articles are not helping.... banghead

I have to say, that looks superb ; what does Mrs J think......?

Providing you don't have to succumb to another quadraped in the stable, why not.

Makes absolute sense to me..

For me, it's a more comfier position than the Norton Commando I very nearly bought from Krazy Horse a while back..

I say do it..!

James, Richard,

Mrs J has not said "no" and there is no risk that this might result in a second horse. So if my neck is still good after a couple of days this could be a "go"!

I still have al my gear and after 5 years it still all fits!!

There are good well specified 12 month old used bikes on the market, they bring the purchase cost down by £3k to £3.5K.

PCP, with £2000 down is less than £200 pcm over 37 months.
Insurance? About £200 p.a.
Road Tax is £85 p.a.

The man maths adds up... happy3

Go for it Peter.

You know you will anyway.

Only downside is Caroline and the Trade off involved!

Only you know the cost of this!
