That's a brilliant photo and evokes memories of Mull this last June when we flew in to Glenforsa. I want to go back, in the Morgan or the plane. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Auster, I stay at Glenforsa every year usually take the Morgan, 500 mile trip. Tried to get a pic with Brendan's Stearman but it rained all week. Do you keep a eye on the airfield live webcam?, fantastic view as you know and some interesting aircraft.

John yes, ahead of the trip I was checking the webcam every day. When we finally arrived we were well looked after by Brendan and Allison as we shared tall tales and ran up an excellent bar bill. I can easily understand why you would drive 500 miles to go there.

I'm going to try a couple of links to pics. One is on finals to Glenforsa with a howling crosswind off the sound - note the drift angle.

The second was taken later when the weather really set in and we were at the bar. Brendan's Stearman looks like an American postal pilot has done a wrong-way-Corrigan e.g. set the wrong heading, crossed the Atlantic and landed in Scotland.

And the third is next morning when we were preparing to depart in much better weather to head through the Great Glen to Inverness. This was definitely the best trip of the summer, in fact of many summers.

Those are links to a google album so I hope they work. It was a trip with an aussie friend who is a part owner of the plane, a 1968 Morane Rallye based near Swindon. I want to do it in the Kitfox but there's no way I could have landed at Glenforsa or in any taildragger in that crosswind. There are good reasons the Rallye is known as "the tin parachute." Glenforsa is such a lovely place that I hesitate to publicise it lest it be overrun by people like me!

Hi Auster, Good to know Brendan and Allison looked after you well, i have to own up that I have worked with Brendan since he ran David Gilmour's Intrepid Aviation in the 90's. I have to visit Glenforsa every year partly because i am married to Brendan's Sister and partly for the fishing. Last year the small ferry broke down and Ann and I slept on the ramp in the Morgan, needless to say I have to visit on my own when going in the Morgan, no sense of fun some ladies.
regards john k

ps. Links not working unfortunately

Gosh that's a hardship, having to visit Glenforsa every year! And I love your story of sleeping on the pier. And so are memories made. Must go back with the lovely, G and the Morgan. Tell Brendan the Rallye crew made it home safely despite the hangovers. I'll send you a pm with a link that works. Kerry.
