If this is what happened then the 'Max is one really safe car!!! I am amazed that such an impact could occur and the driver was so well protected.
I hope my plus 4 is just as good and that I never have to find out!!!!!

Asbo, Boshly and I had a good look at the car whilst at the factory. We did not take any photos because we didn't know what the situation of the driver was. I have subsequently learned that no one was seriously injured in the accident and in all honesty, having seen the car, it is a testament to how well engineered these cars are. As 4/4sportsfun has said, a good reminder how things can go horribly wrong when you drop your concentration for a moment. Stay safe.  Thanks Simon, I'm delighted to hear that no one was hurt. As you say, it does show how well-engineered the cars are; quite reassuring I must say.

As mentioned, picture was already public, I never took pictures of crashed cars and asked friends not to do so (am Ring f.e.)
although the force of the impact buckled the rear of the roof and popped out the rear window.
didn't we all know this was a design-feature, only now we know it's function  the safety of the chassis + drivetrain + bodywork has been proven by the +8 when they crash-tested it seems like those monocoques can't be made suersafe+light compared to chassis+bodywork

it is a testament to how well engineered these cars are. With such an effective 'Bonding System' developed for the Cabin of these cars, one could say that it gives the expression 'Super Glue' a whole new meaning.

Steven, my comment wasn't a dig at you - I simply didn't know the situation when we first saw the car and because of that, none of us felt comfortable taking photos of what could have been a 'death car'. As the driver wasn't seriously hurt and walked away - and it is a factory car (so no insurance complications) - I think the photos represent just how strong these vehicles are. Part of me thinks MMC should put it in the museum as an example of the strength and safety comparabilities.

Super Glue is a very handy tool - but I don't think we could reassemble this car with it... maybe with a little T-Cut and neoprene added in, DaveW could have a good crack at it.

I friend of mine told me that he knew someone in the UK end who were just bidding on a "written off £120,000 Morgan". Wonder if its this one? His story was it had only done 10 miles before the accident.

Not this one as it has done considerably more than 10 miles.
I think your friend is bidding on a different one and with only 10 miles more likely an SS ??

Well, we know that there have been 2 confirmed RHD Aeromaxs written off (neither had 10-miles on the clock). I believe that number may be slightly higher. As MMC only made circa 22 RHD Aeromaxs, they really are getting thinned out.
So far we have, unfortunately, heard of a few Aero SS crashes - resulting in write-offs - so I imagine Phil is mentioning one of these (as per BtG's comment).
