Fat Butchers Restaurant Stellenbosch

Some times you get lucky. The Rupert family who own 25% of BAT and a lot of vineyards in the area supposedly set up this steak restaurant as they didn't the steaks were good enough locally. Their steaks are a minimum of 35 days dry aged.

For £60 for 2 with a nice bottle of Tokana Cabernet Sauvignon I had a 600 g on the bone New York strip (sirloin) & my colleague a 400g fillet steak plus liquors and coffee and a FOKOF lager to start.

Great steak so if you are in the Cape and able to get to Stellenbosch then I would highly recommend this.

Looks good John, the Rupert family also have a car collection / museum on the road into Franschhoek, worth a view if you have the time.

Totally agree, the family collection of cars at the Motor Museum is most definitely worth a look... https://www.fmm.co.za/

Been a couple of times and display is constantly rotating...

When I visited in 2016 I was told he had enough cars to fill the museum 4x.
There is also a fantastic scrapyard/museum on the way to Stellenbosch
Wijnlands Car Museum https://wijnlandautomuseum.co.za/
Definitely worth a visit

I am back in CPT on the 10th Dec will try to swing by as that looks good.

I understood the Ruperts had a team of car buyer with a multi million pound annual budget who looked globally for good cars.

I seem to remember that had c 2000 cars now & display 3-400 at one time in the 4 Dutch barns.
