Little customization of my picnic basket

At the Gawsworth show. Thought I should customize the picnic basket for the occasion.

Nice one, I hadn't heard of the Manchester bee until the tragedy at that pop concert.

I do a lot of business in Manchester and regularly visit, living nearby and I did know about the worker bee being a Manchester symbol but strangely (or not so strangely) through drinking my favourite pint when I was in my 20’s. Boddington’s have two worker bees in the barrel in the their logo and our landlord of the Shepherd in Skipton who was from Manchester originally, took great great delight in telling us about Manchester’s industrial heritage and the worker bee association as he served a pint

Stewart, thanks for the information I've bought enough cans of it over the years but never paid any attention to it. I had noticed that the brewery address was Strangeways and did wonder how close it was to the nick..

There are seven worker bees on the Manchester coat of arms, shown on a globe. This represents the global reach of the work produced in Manchester during the industrial revolution. The symbol has gained popularity again in recent years following the terror attack. There is a current trend to have a bee tatoo but I think I will stick to just having a sticker on my cars instead.

Sadly the brewery is no longer there
It was opposite the Manchester arena just down from the prison until about 15 years ago
I think the site is just a car park now

Although not certain, Boddingtons is now brewed near me at Whitbread in Preston as part of the InBev group
