Two Morgans, three owners
I had a fun outing this morning up into the mountains, now warm rather than searing. The red Morgan belongs to an Englishman who has a house across the valley from me. We visited Paul (standing beside the red car), a chap from Marseille who lives near Comps, towards the northern end of the Var. He has a collection of cars, among them a 1911 Panhard. He was amused when I told him that my Morgan has a Panhard rod.
One of his other cars is a 1981 Morgan Plus 8 that he bought last year. It is off the road at the moment, waiting for a new front wing from Malvern (hand-beaten) after an English chap, riding a motorbike erratically, collided with him. Paul sat in the passenger seat of the 4/4 for about 45 minutes through the mountains. He did not complain, so I suppose he enjoyed it. I don’t think he realized how little I was braking. He is about 90 years old! Amazing man.
