Our 2009 Roadster 100 had the same problem.

Two solutions which worked for me.

Screw out the Two Pins slightly to take some of the pressure off the base rubber seal when locked. There is no loss of Draft Sealing or Water Sealing.

Always press down on the hood just over the Offside Pin at the same time the lever is operated.

Try it and see for yourself.

I suspect this may be an example of the variance in Morgan engineering. While I have had no issues with my hood operation I am aware of others with similar cars "Down Under" have not been so lucky.

Re the Tenax fastener (the last one to open/close when lowering/raising the hood), can anyone tell me which type is likely to have been used on my 2009 Roadster ? They both function OK, but on each side they appear to have been pulled-up somewhat by the tension of the hood fabric. Rather than have one/both break at some stage, I'm planning to replace both now rather than later. They seem to be readily available and not expensive. Trouble is, which type are they ? I'm tempted to just unscrew them with a hex spanner or socket, but would be royally unhappy if they turn-out to have captive (or not) nuts on the other side of the panel. I really hate the idea of grovelling around in the bowels of the car hunting for bits that just drop-and-hide.

On the Roadster it was a wood screw, secured into the wood frame under the alloy sheet.
I broke them a number of times forgetting to take the fabric off before lowering the hood.

In 7 years with the Plus 8 I haven't broken one.
Why?
Because the Tenax fastener is mounted on the same axis of rotation as the hood pivot, so there is no side load on the fastener even if I forget to undo it!!
