Before and after... 5 mins with a cup-brush on the angle-grinder.... Best thing since sliced bread for dealing with corrosion (unless you have a pro sandblaster tucked away somewhere.) ... Steel twist for heavy ferrous but brass is the one for alloy... Buffs to a nice gloss without being harsh. Both lever dampers are mechanically fine, but they do tend to be 'out of sight out of mind' and get very second-hand looking.

Great job and nice to see that you've looked after your Black & Decker Workmate over the years.

When you've finished the car, how about some TLC for that faithful old friend love

Couldn't agree more: two pieces of 1" marine ply and suddenly it is all good for another 30 years.

Every battle-scar honestly earned!..... It's got character! smile

(I did look through for a 'wellying something with a big hammer' emoji but no luck..... Major omission for a proper car forum!!)

Amazing work, Keith, I’m impressed, 9/10

It would be 10/10 but you lose a point for being on the top posters list. If I ever make on that list, I demand to be exiled to the garage for a month!

Yes great work there. My workmate looks well under used compared to yours.

I will admit to having two 'workmates'... A 'rough job' one and one for 'best'. Think I might just sign this one when the Morgan's done and see if I can get it into the Tate Modern!

Progress held for a few days waiting on wood... Plenty of wire-brushing and painting to keep me busy tho

Ewn.... I didn't know there was a score kept of posts..... Always did talk too much! smile

Later in the year when the track isn't so dubby and full of potholes you should pop in for a cuppa on one of your jaunts out... Would be good to see your car 'in the metal'..... Will let you know when access is more 'Morgan' and less 'Defender'

After stripping, the fuel tank proved to be in unexpectedly good condition.... No corrosion that's of any concern, just some light surface rust easily dealt with by the wire brush and neutralising solution..... Now in red oxide primer waiting a black top-coat.... Plenty of waxoyl when it goes back in (the planks of its base are also good, I have a bit of real old fashioned creosote left in a shed... The planks will be a fitting use for it) Fine to see a hand-made tank with all soldered joints... Like a giant tin can.... You could get a lot of soup in that!!
