Bringing it home... Runner and driver but various body woes :-)

Full of admiration for your rebuild K, I think applying Kellogs branding perhaps you may be a special K ...(-: I hope the bodywork goes as well as all your other jobs seem to have done to date.

The beautiful Broom makes for a colourful backdrop too...

Proper local 'Fermer' would tut under his breath at the amount of yellow I tolerate

Hope your optimism is well founded regarding the bodywork .... however I'm expecting 7 kinds of grief (at least).... it is just a finite physical task after all so, hopefully, I will worry it into submission. ...... Bolting in all of the ancilliaries like catch tank, heater valve and solenoid ... I can fondly imagine merely connecting pipe A from point B to point C and wire X from point Y to point Z ...But like all plans it will no doubt not survive contact with the enemy.

Not seen but all the floor panels are cut out of some nice 9mm marine ply and sat in place .... will be pulling them out for the edges sealing with West epoxy and a good coat of paint ...their final fit and bolting up will be easier once I get to the stage of removing the body frame for cuprinol.

Fun build do far ... as long as it doesn't spoil itself by becoming a monster in the later stages I'll be well glad I did it.

Looking great!

Things are moving along fine but nothing particular picture-worthy ..... took some time out from the heavy stuff for a couple of detail jobs ..... have a mate lives over the fields who's a talented maker (and player) of flutes .... in return for the loan of my biggest chainsaw for a few days he took my old cracked and bashed plastic gear knob and made me this in African Blackwood with a Boxwood and Walnut inlay in the top ..... nice bit of kit

Other job was the steering wheel.

Before .... bit of a mess with the old leather rim worn through and stitching split ... stripped it off and there's a nice plain rubber rim under there ... have never liked the '70s dodgy grained and somewhat ugly centre either.



After ..... bit of work on the lathe, a polish and an enamel badge and it's much more the sort of wheel I would want . Quite liking the plain rubber rim .... simple and honest and in keeping with the older car ..... it will certainly do for the present and a major improvement for a fiver

Is there anywhere obvious on the gearbox where you could fit a reverse light switch? I've got a manual one on the dash but a automatic one would be easier.

TBM .... I'll have a look (tho there are probably 5 speed Type9 gurus on here will know off the tops of their heads) ..... if there isn't one integral to the box I reckon it wouldn't be too hard to rig a micro switch to be operated by the gear lever in that position ..... will be checking out the wiring loom tomorrow so will look then.
