1987 Safari Rally
Three-week "lockdown" task -- sorting and filing 60 years of negs, slides and photos. This is my attempt at the 1987 East Africa Safari Rally (with fearless navigator Trevor Baker). Like most competitors in the three-day two-night Safari we failed to finish but lasted a lot longer than our professional rivals Bjorn Waldegard and Stig Blomquist. The event was won by Hannu Mikkola -- who had TWO helicopters.😒

1987 - it was sometime around then that I started doing rally recovery. Not I hasten to add out in Africa - mostly in much colder and wetter Wales. Gave it up after nearly 14 years - just got too expensive and I had trouble finding a regular crewman...
Thanks for sharing your photos. There's a few rally and ex-rally people on here.
