Well we all had fun even if it was north of the border in Nawfolk. There was an interloper in a Mini and but then he had come from darkest Cheltenham plus one of the locals in a red Morgan.

I can highly recommend this museum for it's eclectic mix of items. Sadly most aren't driven regularly..

The weather was not kind . Some opted for hood up all the way there & back .They might have been right Hawki, Nickplus 4 & myself may have regretted the top down approach especially on the way home though my hair was washed.

Where to next week is the key question.

I have to admit the 900ss is the bike I loved from those days. Very expensive now.

Not sure of the order of intro but the 860 Hailwood Replica was another Ducati Classic. My BIL at the time managed to drop one during a memorable summers evening ending with us visiting him in hospital whilst he was in traction!

I don't think there is any such thing as a cheap Duke now Gary. Even the smaller single cylinder bikes fetch silly money (seems anything regarded as a classic has extra zeros on the end of the price!).
A pal in Stroud had a 900SS.
The 750SS was earlier than the 860 and the Hailwood Rep came along in the 80s IIRC, but I can't remember which season Mike Hailwood rode Ducati. I do remember a circuit race on TV where he rode around the outside of one of the American bike racers (Rainey, Schwantz maybe) on reasonably fast corner and I think won that race, It all seems a long time ago now.

It always wanted a Mike Hailwood replica but the price was out of reach. I would also like that Benelli Sei, a mate of mine had one when he worked in Swansea. He let me blat it around the Gower one notable weekend.

I had a 450 single and then a 750ss. I also very nearly bought an MV 750 America, but didn't. Wish I had all three now! Then again I bought an 1100 Beemer about 10 years ago and scared myself on it. I sold it on having done less than 20 miles. There was a time and place, but it was about 35 years earlier!

A few years. The car has a somewhat varied history, referred in part (and not necessarily entirely correctly) here : http://www.bugattibuilder.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=790&start=0 . What I do know is that my father wanted to build it as the T51 of it's lineage (the slightly later twin cam variant, but very similar), but struggled to get a full set of engine components. He did a deal of swapping the components he had to make a full set of T35 (single cam) engine parts, and that is how it is today. There are a lot of incorrect details on the car, and he cringes looking back at it as he has subsequently restored very nice T35B, T43 and T38, but the car in the collection is very much a product of parts available at the time, and to a lesser degree his experience and his budget.

He was re-united (after 52 years) with it at Caister for first time last year, and got a great reception from the museum keen to know more about the car.
