Morgan script badge

I have fitted the Morgan script badge copying the layout that I have seen on another Plus 4. I have since seen the same layout on two other cars. The second photo is modified to show an alternative layout that I have seen on another car last night. To tell the truth I prefer the second layout but the holes are now drilled frown

Perhaps Jays' method (see http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/88057/Morgan_script_badge#Post88070 ) may be safer because if you don't get it quite right you can change it.

It is not easy to get it looking as it should because the slope of the script is different in the Morgan and the Plus 4. I made it so that the base of the two scripts were parallel but I think that it may look better if the Morganis slightly higher at the left so that the slope of the two scripts is more in line. This is what I have done on the modified version of the photo that also places the Morgan script more to the left.

If you decide to drill holes my recommendation would be to experiment with placement on a sheet of scrap aluminium and when you have got it how you want it, with suitable protection for the paint, use the sheet as a template to get the holes in the desired position using any holes used by an existing badge (in my case the Plus 4) to hold the template in place. Because the pins are very close to the edges of the script you have very little possibility of elongating holes to adjust the scripts. You must get it right first time. Also before drilling make sure you have access to the rear of the panel to place the nuts. On my car I barely had space to get my fingers to the pin let alone screw on the nut.

Good luck
Peter

I originally asked and got the same answer....I guess its not economical to produce what would be a small number. It is easy to cut off the mounting lugs (with care!) and stick on with trim tape.

Have you asked Uncle Melvyn?

For the next....
You can cut off the pins properly and glue the badge with polymeer and degreaser (to clean) or with dubbel side glueing tape. (brand Kent)
Doing this almost every week ( on non morgan cars)

Tarka was delivered without any rear panel badge. I mentioned this to Steve and he said it should have been and to talk to Williams. So I did.

A new Plus 8 badge arrived: the back is smooth and intended to be fixed with Trim Tape. The trim tape has to be trimmed to fit the badge, which needs a very sharp knife.

Fitted, it looks really good.

I ordered a Plus 8 badge for my '96 Plus 8 because it only had the Morgan script badge. it took 9 months to arrive !!(from Melvyn's)
