Hi Paul, just something that has sprung to mind is when I used to run a Cortina 1600E in the 70's I made my own immobiliser out of a mini jack audio plug and socket.
I mounted the mini jack socket under the dash and cut the starter solenoid wire from the ignition switch. If you then bridge the 2 terminals out in the jack plug you have an immobiliser. With jack plug removed there is no link between the ignition switch and the starter solenoid.
Hardly Cat 1 Thatcham but it is still an immobiliser non the less.
I should be taking delivery of my M3W next month I hope, fingers crossed, then I can start playing about measuring front bump steer and trying to shim it out.
