I wave- and hope to get a response. Some people are very snobbish, I used to do quite a lot of cycle touring and would acknowledge anyone else on a bike, but would often get no return from the road racers out training or the mountain bikers. When out walking in the countryside, I'll usually greet other walkers- it seems rude not to.
