I did worry a little about this at first, but it appears that they really prefer to burrow into living ash trees and the process used to harden the ash used in Morgans would be a large deterrent if an emerald ash borer were to discover what lies underneath the sheet-metal.
Our large problem comes from people cutting down the dead ash trees and stacking the logs as firewood, then people move the firewood with the bugs intact to their cabins up north or the bonfire pit at the barn, hastening the ash borers spread.
