The wettest side will grip least on first application.
My Roadster has a lazy piston on the offside which only shows up with the brakes really hot, when I get a pull to the left.
Backplates would help, and I've toyed with the idea of modding some MGB ones to fit.
Replacing the discs is on my medium term to do list anyway, so for now it's status quo.
