Wow, thanks for the replies. Yes, I do know of a local owner and will attempt to make his acquaintance. Who knows, maybe he's all fed up with his car at this point - like you guys - and I'll get a deal(?) Right. His looks to be either new or at least a frame-off restoration. My son saw his car and now we're both making sure that I keep the topic alive.
I had read (and forgot) about sagging door hinge points being a clue to the condition/age/care of the woodwork. I will give this advice and links the best of my perusal and keep my search public here. Thanks again for the great welcome and steering.
