Beware parking it just in gear if its laid up a few year ago we had the coldest winter on record . I kept out of the garage due to the snow when I went to start the car the gearbox oil was so thick it refused to go into any gear . I had to let it run for a while till it thinned out . If it had been in gear I would have had one hell of a problem .
I use silicone brake fluid have done for 20 year dont seems to get any problems .
I have found that my car will not start and idle easily when very cold (gearbox in neutral, naturally). The last couple of times I have used it I have started it with the clutch in, even though the gearbox is in neutral, and once it has been running for a few seconds I can then let the clutch out and allow the car to warm up before driving it. I can only assume that the oil used in the gearbox is fairly viscose when very cold.
