When I ordered my 4/4 sport in May 2010, the UK price including VAT for a left hand drive one was I think £31000 (rhd was £30000). At the time the exchange rate was €1.20 to the pound or so, so this equated to about €37000. At the time the list price of a 4/4 sport from Morgan France was €42000, but this included two eared spinners, round door mirrors and small rear view mirror, a moto lita steering wheel and 4 years warranty and servicing. On top of that I ordered a pack which included a tonneau cover, elasticated door pockets and door handles (which I didn't particularly want, but the kit was a fair bit cheaper than the tonneau and door pockets on their own) and a luggage rack - so the grand total came to about € 43 500.
I figured that of the €5000 I could have saved, some of it was taken up by the extras which come as standard in the Morgan France spec, the extended warranty and servicing made up for a fair chunk of it; there was always the risk that if I placed an order in sterling in the UK there was a risk of the currency moving against me during the 11 months until I took delivery, (which is a risk that the French importer is of course exposed to and must factor into his pricing).
Much though I'd have loved to give the business to BHM who had been superbly friendly and helpful, it seemed fairer and more sensible to place the order with my local dealer who I'd be expecting to maintain the car, not to mention avoiding all the hassle of importing the car and registering it on french plates.
However, if I were looking to buy second hand I think I'd be far more likely to buy from the UK.
