Looking at it again this morning I'm sure that no matter how careful you are fitting the bolts holding the strap and bonnet stop, you are bound to end up chipping the paint in the hole. I always grease the bolt but I guess the smallest chip exposing bare alloy and then water being held against it with a damp belt will end up with some corrosion. Its probably best to cut away any sheepskin or felt lining just where it is clamped down so that water is not soaked up.
