I suspected this. So I put the battery on charge tonight in the hope that everything would be ok tomorrow. Your response makes me sleep this night. These modern batteries are not quite what same as batteries was in the 70´-s. I will come to morrow night with the results.


If you continue to have problems then check the condition of the negative lead from the battery and in particular, how clean is the connection to the chassis or engine block of the car. Its easy to get bad connections with high resistance and which take the voltage below the level at which the started will operate.

At the risk of depressing you, a battery which has stood for some time whilst heavily discharged or almost flat could well be damaged and have only limited capacity left.
