I have a '93 Plus 8, and also wanted to change the gear knob. I visited the factory in Feb and bought a nice shiny new shift knob. If you do this be sure they give you the one with the correct shift pattern, i.e. Reverse to the left of first. fortunately I checked it at the counter and they had given me the incorrect one, but they did have the correct one. It's a bit pricey and does not screw on, it has 3 grub screw that when fitted, are hidden under a chrome sheath that screws up over them. It. Does look good and is a reasonable match for the brake lever.
