I would be v interested to see how this works out, especially how much increase in steering effort.
Well did a 160 mile round trip from Beer to Sammy Miller museum yesterday, every sort of road types you could want.
Results
Slow speed driving - still easy to steer, feels very slightly heavier
30-50mph - calm steering, no kick back hitting bumps in road surface
50+mph NO shimmy, car feels stable no wandering about, I did drive up to some higher speeds and felt calm and relaxed apart from having to take hat off so it did not blow off.
Heavy braking, more control in straight line (I had to as a moron cut me up as I came off a roundabout).
Overall a great success, the only way I cn describe it is the steering is more controlled, calm and the car just feels more planted on the road, less jittery overall, I hope that makes sense.
So if you have a shimmy issue, or want to calm things down on the steering feedback then I think this is the answer. Whether you have set up like me (bearings under top springs & no reaction plates) or Suplex I think the £24 for the SLK damper and the £50 for a pair of brackets from Geoff's Shed is a no brainier!
